The Power of Microalgae
In nature, and so too at Algatech, everything started with microalgae. The story of life on Earth dates back at least 3.5 billion years, and begins with single-celled organisms, some of which are the ancestors of the microalgae that Algatech harnesses today. Microalgae made life on earth possible for the rest of us by performing photosynthesis, producing about half of the atmospheric oxygen.
They started out at the base of the food chain, meaning microalgae hold the secret to produce everything necessary for life; themselves. Salmon, shrimp, lobsters, and other sea creatures get their pinkish color by directly or indirectly consuming microalgae containing Algatech’s not-so-secret ingredient – astaxanthin.
Microalgae required great stamina and resilience to overcome the conditions at the beginning of cellular life on earth. These included harmful U.V. light and oxidising environments. - pluvialis is a freshwater species of microalgae with a pivotal position at the forefront of the whole foods, aquaculture, and cosmetics markets. It is also the source of nature’s most powerful antioxidant – astaxanthin.
Phaeodactylum is the source of Algatech’s Fucovital® dietary supplement, the secret of the Japanese diet, shown to promote fat burning and protect against metabolic syndromes such as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
Porphyridium is a rich natural source of bioactive sulfated polysaccharides, with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and free-radical scavenging activity. These important polysaccharides have broad industrial and pharmaceutical applications.
