Bioavailability
Algatech, a leading astaxanthin manufacturer, commissioned a clinical pilot study led by principal investigator late Dr. Rafael Bitzur, the former Secretary of the Israeli Society for the Treatment and Prevention of Atherosclerosis. In the study, the level of astaxanthin in the plasma of 10 healthy volunteers was measured by Haematococcus pluvialis LC during a 24 hr follow-up period, after the intake of a single dose of AstaPure® Arava. The significant findings show that astaxanthin from the whole algae was bioavailable in levels as high as in oleoresin.
